The Winemaking Process
Before your winemaking adventure begins, we invite you to meet with our expert staff to create a wine profile. Do you prefer a fruity merlot or a tannic cabernet? Whatever your wine preference, Vintners Own will work to accommodate your every need. Determining your preference of alcohol content, tannin levels, 'oakiness' and acidity is part of the fun of the winemaking process! |
At Vintners Own we source the highest quality grapes from the Napa and Sonoma regions of California. Harvest takes place between the months of August and October when grapes are ripe and ready to be plucked from the vine. All of our partner vineyards utilize hand-harvesting techniques to ensure greater discernment and gentler handling of grapes. |
When your grapes arrive at our winery, in Houston we will notify you immediately. Imagine you and your friends running you hands through clusters of grapes and making the final selection of which berries will be transformed into your wine! At our custom crush facility, you will use our sorting tables to manually get rid of spoiled grapes, unripe bunches and leaves. Its real hands on! |
Wine aged in toasted barrels is enhanced with the addition of oak derived overtones which flavor your wine. At Vintners Own, our staff has a time tested understanding of wine and barrel pairing which allows us to help you make the best barrel "toast" decision. As your wine ages over a period of 6-18 months, our staff will conduct regular testing and racking to ensure its clarity and character. Stop by yourself and taste your wine as it changes over time! |
You and your friends will be able to taste test the developing flavor of your wine as it slowly makes its journey to the bottle. Vintners Own staff will always be at your side to ensure success. |
Your choice of bottle, cork, and label are an important part of your wines identity. Our creative staff will assist you in all of your bottling decisions. After we have bottled and corked your wine, we invite you to have a bottling party to celebrate the end of the winemaking process. |
